GENERAL INFORMATION
The Department of chemistry,
with outstanding faculty, students, and support staff, is among
the leading departments in research at Atatürk University. It
has had remarkable success in many areas including Organic
Chemistry, Analytic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and
Biochemistry. Department members bring together experience from
a wide variety of research universities and institutions. The
Department of chemistry, supported by the University Research
Fund, the Scientific and Technical Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK),
and the State Planning Organization (DPT), produces over 40
publications annually in National and International journals.
Admission to the department is nondiscriminatory, and students
are admitted on a competitive basis. The Department of Chemistry
offers courses of study leading to the doctor of philosophy
(PhD) and master of science (MS) in four areas:

Chemistry
Both
the MS and PhD degrees are designed to provide students with the
knowledge and research experience necessary to pursue
professional careers. A schedule of required courses is
established for each student based on his or her needs and
interests and the results of proficiency exams administered at
enrollment. University Guest House is available for both
married and single foreign students. A wide variety of
apartments and rental houses are within walking distance of
campus. The university's volume collection is housed in
the University Library, within a two-minute walk of the
Department of Chemistry. The library subscribes to most major
scientific journals and many specialized journals. Material not
directly available on campus is easily obtained via interlibrary
loan. |
